ABOUT US
The Salt Lake Men’s Choir is one of Utah’s oldest
member-supported arts organizations. For 26 years we have
been bringing diversity to Salt Lake City through song, helping dispel hate and prejudice, and building bridges between the gay and nongay communities.
SLMC encourages and takes pride in the diversity of its members. Our common
thread is that we strive for musical excellence in our singing.
The 2008-2009 season is our 26th year. Our artistic director, Dennis McCracken joined us in 2006 and the choir has seen steady growth, buth in numbers and quality, since.
We have produced two CDs, “Ring Out Wild Bells!,”
an album of Christmas music, and a collection of American music
entitled “SLMC.”
We have performed all over the state of Utah as well as Idaho,
California and the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. We are also thrilled to have performed in a sold-out Sydney
Opera House as part of the Sydney 2002 Gay Games VI Sport and
Cultural Festival.
As a volunteer community choir, this organization has accomplished
much since its beginning. Our ability to do that is found in the
pledge of commitment we make to each other to be the best we can
be, both individually and collectively. Integrity, good will and
trust in each other have built the choir to what it is today.
