HISTORY
The Salt Lake Mens Choir was founded in 1982 by thirteen
men who had a vision to sing and to unite in comraderie
and friendship. Since that original founding, the choir has
moved forward with that same goal.
Our tenth year anniversary was held in Abravanel Hall and our fifteenth anniversary
was a sell out at All Saints Episcopal Church. Our twentieth anniversary took us to Sydney Australia, singing
with the Gay Games Cultural Festival to a sold-out Sydney Opera
House. We represented the state of Utah, singing in the Washington National Cathedral in celebration of its quadrennial Utah Day in 2005.
The choir is committed to service. We have performed benefits for
the YWCA of Salt Lake City, the Utah AIDS Foundation, Our Lady
of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Womens Prison at the Point
of the Mountain, People with AIDS Coalition, the Episcopal Diocese
of Utah, Utah Pride, Utah Gay Rodeo Association,
Utah Arts Festival, First United Methodist Church, retirement centers and many others.
The choir is strong and united as we head into our 25th year.
We have approximately 50 singing members and we are always looking
for additional members, both singing and non-singing.
